FRIDAY  2/22  7:00PM
From Generation to Generation: The Stories we Hear, the Stories We Tell, the Stories We Live

As a child, I sat at the kitchen table in my grandmother’s house and listened as she told me stories of her life in the “old country.” The stories I heard and the stories I tell are more than just memories and reminiscences–they are a way of transmitting tradition, culture, and heritage.

As part of tonight’s service, I will share with you some of my stories, invite you to share some of yours, and we’ll explore the rich Jewish traditions and values these stories imparted.

SATURDAY  2/23  7:00PM
Shards: Putting the Pieces Together

Cantor Dr. Kent’s one-man show is comprised of stories and songs through which Evan tells the tale of his aliyah to Israel, combined with the stories of his grandparents’ journey from Russia to the United States in 1908.

SUNDAY  2/24  3:00PM
Telling our Own Stories / Creating Our Own Memories: How Stories From Tradition Enlighten the Past and Guide the Future

In this study session/workshop, we will have a chance to examine the telling and re-telling of stories from our tradition. We will also better understand how our telling of stories — sacred and secular, individual and communal — strengthens our bonds to the past, enlightens our present, and informs our actions for the future.
